Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast is saddened by the recent loss of one of our babies, on May 3rd. The mother, currently in the Transitional Housing Program,  lost her 3 1/2 month-old daughter to what is believed to be Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (crib death).

In order to assist with costs of the funeral and other expenses, Mary's Shelter has established a Memorial Fund for baby Sydnee. Gifts can be made payable to Mary's Shelter, for the Sydnee Memorial Fund; any donations over and above the cost of the funeral and related expenses will be utilized at Mary's Shelter, at the request of the family.

Our Monte Carlo event held in May was a lot of fun - and very successful, raising close to $18,000!

Heartfelt thanks to St. Lawrence and Christ the King Parishes, to the donors of auction items, to advertisers in the program, to the many volunteers who worked so hard to make this happen - and especially to all our supporters who came out to have a fun time with us to support a great cause - saving babies and helping their moms improve their lives.

Many thanks to St. Thomas-by-the-Sea parish in Orange Beach and to the volunteers (both parishioners and snowbirds) who worked so hard to hold bingo on Thursdays during snowbird season! This was the seventh year of "Mary's Shelter Bingo", and every year the amount donated has increased - this year to $16,035! A special thanks to Fr. Jim Dane for covering all food expenses and cost of bingo materials.

This continuing support by St. Thomas-by-the-Sea is much appreciated.
